ABOUT THE GROUPS

Based in Rugby, our two Academy groups aim to provide committed, driven and talented Junior Athletes in the Midlands with a professional training environment to optimise their performance and unlock their future potential

BENEFITS

As a member of or Performance or Development Academy Group, you will receive:

  • 3-4 sessions each week led by WTC Lead Coach James Wright

  • Structured sessions as part of a carefully designed annual training programme

  • Integrated Strength & Conditioning training to aid development

  • Support from our Athlete Development Coach Connor Aldridge

  • Guidance through the busy seasons and on the day competition support 

  • Support with key lifestyle factors that influence training such as nutrition, sleep and education

PERFORMANCE ACADEMY

PREPARATION

The main aim of our Performance Academy is to prepare talented young athletes for the technical, physical and psychological demands of performing at a senior level

ATHLETES

This group is suitable for U17/U20 Athletes looking to progress their training in one of the following events:

  • Sprints -100m, 200m, 300/400m

  • Hurdles - 80/100/110mH, 300/400mH

  • Horizontal Jumps - Long Jump and Triple Jump

TRAINING

The group trains four times a week. This includes three sessions on the track and one dedicated Strength & Conditioning session supported by our Athlete Development Coach each week

DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY

FOUNDATIONS

The main aim of our Development Academy is to lay the foundations for future senior performance. This includes developing key athletics skills across a variety of events as well as important physical skills

ATHLETES

This group is suitable for U13/U15 athletes with passion and potential across any of the following event groups:

  • Sprints 

  • Hurdles

  • Jumps 

TRAINING

The group trains three times a week. This includes two sessions on the track and one dedicated Strength & Conditioning session supported by our Athlete Development Coach each week​
